As our family planned to rebuild our summer cabin where I had grown up on Kootenay Lake, the Engineering Consultant who helped us previously suggested that I call Leigh Mayoh of Mayoh Designs to help with planning. He was correct-- Leigh and I met several times on site and in Victoria to mold our sketched plan into a superb set of plans for the project. Every step of this process was both fun and rewarding, with Leigh's relaxed, exacting manner. He made the right suggestions and incorporated the features we desired. He also suggested the Contractor (North Shore Builders), who brought the project to completion, resulting in an exciting lakehouse for us to enjoy in any season.

For years, Leigh and I tried to work together, and we succeeded on an elegant home west of Nelson, BC. When the builder wants to move into the house he built for clients, that's a credit to the designer. Leigh's background in timber framing, paired with the excellent siting, elevated the dwelling from a functional bungalow to a restrained mountain showpiece. Further, his experience in the timber world helped us source the timbers and wrangle the assemblies through the engineering that the building department required. Framing through a cold, snowy winter taxed our crew, but Leigh was always a phone call away (in comparatively balmy Victoria), able to guide us through any design confusion we had; his non-alarmist demeanour is icing on the cake. I look forward to our next project.
